AI Privacy Cleaner Privacy Policy
AI Privacy Cleaner is designed to detect and sanitize sensitive information locally on the user's device before content is shared with supported AI websites.
Effective September 4, 20261. Information processed by the extension
To provide its privacy-protection features, the extension may process information that the user enters, selects, or uploads. Depending on the user's content, this can include personally identifiable information, authentication information, financial or payment information, health-related identifiers, personal communications, and other website content.
This processing occurs locally on the user's device for detection, review, OCR, masking, replacement, or creation of a cleaned copy. The developer does not receive this sensitive content.
2. Developer collection
AI Privacy Cleaner does not collect or transmit the user's scanned sensitive content to the developer. The extension does not include developer analytics, advertising SDKs, user accounts, or a developer-operated content-processing backend.
The extension does not collect browsing history or device location.
3. How information is used
Information processed by the extension is used only to provide user-facing functionality, including sensitive-data detection, sanitization, OCR-based image review, live chat protection, upload protection, and generation of cleaned copies.
4. Chrome storage
AI Privacy Cleaner uses Chrome extension storage to remember settings and local state:
- Chrome sync storage: non-sensitive preferences such as enabled detector categories, OCR settings, live protection, upload protection, and sanitization options. Chrome may synchronize these preferences across browsers signed into the user's Chrome profile.
- Chrome local storage: custom protected terms, popup state, and basic local activity timestamps or counters.
Sensitive chat text, file contents, image contents, detected values, cleaned output, and OCR output are not saved to Chrome sync storage by the extension. Custom protected terms are stored locally on the device and are not placed in Chrome sync storage by the extension.
5. Supported website access
The extension runs only on explicitly supported AI chat websites. On those sites, it may inspect the active chat editor and user-initiated file selections so it can provide a local warning or cleaning option before the user sends or uploads content.
The extension does not run on unrelated websites and does not read or maintain the user's general browsing history.
6. Sending content to an AI service
When the user chooses to send a message or upload a file, the destination AI service receives that content through its normal website interface. AI Privacy Cleaner does not act as an intermediary and does not receive a copy. The destination service's own privacy policy applies to content the user chooses to submit to that service.
7. Sharing, sale, advertising, and human review
AI Privacy Cleaner does not sell user data. It does not share scanned content, OCR output, detected values, custom protected terms, or cleaned output with advertisers, data brokers, or other third parties for advertising or profiling.
User data is not used for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, lending decisions, or unrelated purposes, and is not made available for routine human review by the developer.
8. Retention and deletion
Sensitive content processed for scanning or cleaning is not intentionally retained by the extension after the relevant browser interaction or popup session ends. Locally stored settings, custom protected terms, and activity counters remain until the user changes or resets them, clears extension data, or uninstalls the extension. Chrome-synced preferences are also subject to the user's Chrome synchronization settings.
9. Security and local processing
The extension is designed to minimize data exposure by performing its detection and sanitization logic on-device. No method of software processing can guarantee perfect detection or protection, so users should review cleaned content before sharing it.
10. File and OCR limitations
Pattern detection and OCR can miss information or produce false positives. Some compressed PDF text, XMP metadata, scanned PDF pages, handwriting, very small image text, and unsupported file formats may not be fully inspected or cleaned.
11. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
AI Privacy Cleaner's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is handled only as necessary to provide or improve the extension's user-facing privacy and cleaning features.
12. Changes to this policy
If the extension's data practices materially change, this privacy policy will be updated to reflect those changes. Where appropriate, material changes may also be described in extension release notes or in-product disclosures.
